Roughly:
Ashram: a spiritual community that welcomes guests. Simple rooms, set routines, often donation-based or very cheap, with rules on dress, food and behaviour. Examples: Parmarth Niketan, Sivananda Neyyar Dam (from ₹650 a night with meals and classes), Sri Ramanasramam.
Retreat centre: built for programmes (meditation courses, yoga intensives, naturopathy). Simple but comfortable, with a fixed schedule. Examples: Tushita, Kaivalyadhama, Jindal Naturecure.
Boutique: resort-style comfort with a wellness focus and more freedom. Private rooms, good food, optional activities. Examples: Kairali
Luxury: high-end rooms, personalised programmes, spa and staff to handle everything. Examples: Ananda in the Himalayas, Six Senses Vana, Shreyas.
Price doesn't decide how transformative it is. A free Vipassana course can be life-changing; a luxury stay can be the rest you badly need. Our 60-second match helps you decide.
